If like me you run Superbase, Personal or the Professional version, you
have an excellent Database, however as an added enhancement to the system,
I bought a system clock (Forget me Clock II from Frontier Software) to
date stamp records as they were saved without the hassle of inputting the
date each time the program was loaded, however, to my consternation
Superbase would not recognise the date in the system but would imprint the
default date as held in the "SB .PAR" file which loads with
Superbase and reloads when a Directory change occurs.
The "SB .PAR" file is as follows (depending of course on how your
version is configured) :-£
.,

This file can be loaded into First Word Plus or indeed any WP and
modified so the first thing I tried was to delete the default date
(but not the line), however this gave an error report of "Invalid
Date" when loaded and the program reset to the desktop.
After a lot of head scratching and resetting parameters from within
Superbase, I finally put the program back into First Word and ADDED
TWELVE spaces BEFORE the default date leaving room for the set date to
add itself to the program on loading.

The program now works fine and data is accurately Date and Time
stamped automatically.
If you run data from a separate disk, either ammend or delete the "SB
.PAR" program if it is present or the default date will re-establish
itself when you change directories.
I have also found that by setting up a RAM disk and dumping all my
data files to that first, access to files is almost instant and wear
and tear is much reduced on the drive and data disk and when re-saved
to the disk at the end of the session, there is less fragmentation of
data which also slows down the access to files.
